SRT to TXT converter
Choose or paste an .srt or .vtt file and get the words as clean text: no numbers, no times, no tags. It runs in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.
Letters look wrong?
Old subtitle files are often saved in a regional code page instead of UTF-8. The file you download is always UTF-8.

Make subtitles from a videoHow to convert SRT to text
- Choose your .srt or .vtt file, drop it on the box, or paste its text.
- Read the result: subtitles are joined into sentences, and a pause of 2 seconds or more starts a new paragraph.
- Tick Keep a timestamp at each line if you want
[00:01:23]before every subtitle, for quotes or show notes. - Click Download .txt or Copy.
What is removed
Subtitle numbers, time lines, <i> and <b> tags, <font> colours and {\an8} position codes. A WebVTT speaker tag keeps the name (<v Anna>Hi becomes Anna: Hi). A subtitle that repeats the one before it, as in karaoke or roll-up captions, is written once.
Common questions
Why turn subtitles into text?
To read a video instead of watching it, quote it in an article, translate it in a document, give it to an AI tool as a transcript, or keep notes of a lecture or interview.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion is JavaScript in this page. Your subtitles are not sent to any server.
Does it work with YouTube or Zoom captions?
Yes. YouTube, Zoom and Vimeo give captions as .vtt or .srt; both work here. For YouTube's .sbv files, use SBV to SRT first.
I have a recording, not a subtitle file. Can I get the text?
Yes: Textylo turns audio and video into text with timestamps, free up to 30 minutes.
Are accents and other scripts kept?
Yes. The text is saved as UTF-8. Old files in a regional code page can be read correctly under "Letters look wrong?".
