- Paste your text or choose a .txt file. Put each subtitle on its own line.
- Leave Seconds per subtitle empty to time each line by its length (about 15 letters a second, 1 to 7 seconds), or type a fixed time such as 3.
- Click Download .srt and load it in your editor, then move the lines to the speech where needed.
How lines are split
A subtitle holds at most two lines of 42 characters, the limit Netflix uses for English. A longer line is cut at the end of a sentence, else at a comma, else between words. Empty lines are skipped.
Common questions
Will the subtitles match the voice in my video?
Not by themselves: plain text has no times, so they are estimated. To get subtitles timed to the speech, upload the recording to Textylo's audio to SRT, or for short videos with captions in the picture use Subtylo.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The SRT is made in this page in your browser.
Can I use it for song lyrics?
Yes. Put each lyric line on its own line, choose a fixed time per line, then shift lines in your editor to the beat. Our subtitle shifter moves all of them at once.
Which languages work?
Any. The file is saved as UTF-8, which every current editor and player reads.
